Alshu'araa' 7 of 11

The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
