No, by the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
