The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
