And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 Musa said: O Harun! what prevented thee, when thou sawest them going astray. 92 from following after me, did you disobey my order' 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He replied, "I had the skill (of carving) which they did not have. I followed some of the Messengers's (Moses) tradition, but I then ignored it. Thus, my soul prompted me (to carve a golden calf with an artificial hollow sound). 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 Your god is only God. There is no other god but He. His knowledge extends over everything." 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whosoever turnoth away therefrom - verily they shall bear on the Day of Judgment a burthen, 100 Abiding in this (state), and evil will it be for them to bear on the day of resurrection; 101 On the day when the Trumpet is blown and We shall assemble the guilty on that day, blue -eyed. 102 Whispering secretly among themselves, “You have not stayed on earth but for ten days.” 103 We know best what they say, when the fairest of them in course would say: You tarried but a day. 104
