۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
