He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
