۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
