Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In high empyrean 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
