We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 When well-bred horses, which were fleet of foot were paraded before him near the close of day, 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed, 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 As also others bound together in fetters. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
