Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
