The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
