A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
