The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
