The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 and the drivers driving, 2 By the angels reciting the praise. 3 that your Lord is the only Lord. 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun! 5 Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). 6 And (there is) a safeguard against every rebellious Shaitan. 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 cast out [from all grace,] with lasting suffering in store for them [in the life to come]; 9 Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. 10 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), “Are they a stronger creation, or are other things of our creation, (the angels, the heavens etc.)?” We have indeed created them from sticky clay. 11 You marvel (at the wondrous creations of Allah) and they scoff at it, 12 And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- 13 And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff, 14 And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! 15 "What! When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be brought back to life again, 16 along with our forefathers?" 17 Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible." 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 and will say: "Oh, woe unto us! This is the Day of Judgment!" 20 This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny. 21
