Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sun and its brightness 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
