Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
