But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 and these satans hinder them from the Right Path, while he still reckons himself to be rightly-guided. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 (Muhammad), can you make the deaf hear or guide the blind or the one who is clearly in error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or if We shew thee that wherewith We threaten them, verily We are going to prevail over them. 42 So hold thou fast to that which is inspired in thee. Lo! thou art on a right path. 43 The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
