He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
