Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
