and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
