The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
