The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
