The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
