And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam, they made obeisance, but Iblis (did it not); he refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you be distressed in misery. 117 In Paradise you will experience no hunger, nakedness, 118 you shall not thirst, nor feel the sun's heat." 119 But Satan seduced him, saying: "Adam! Shall I direct you to a tree of eternal life and an abiding kingdom?" 120 Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray. 121 Thereafter his Lord chose him, and turned again unto him, and He guided him. 122 [Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]. 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his shall be a life of narrowness, and on the Resurrection Day We shall raise him blind.' 124 He will say, “O my Lord, why have You raised me blind, whereas I was sighted?” 125 Allah will say: Thus came Our signs unto thee and thou ignoredst them; so that wise today thou shalt be ignored. 126 And thus do We recompense him who is extravagant and does not believe in the communications of his Lord, and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is severer and more lasting 127 Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 128
