The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
