Corruption doth appear on land and sea because of (the evil) which men's hands have done, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return. 41 Say, "Journey through the land, and see how those before you met their end -- most of them, ascribed partners with God." 42 So set thy face toward the right religion before the Day cometh from which there is no averting, from Allah, on that Day they shall be sundered. 43 He who disbelieves will suffer the consequence of it and he who acts righteously, they will pave the way for their own good 44 that He may recompense those who believe and do righteous deeds of His bounty; He loves not the unbelievers. 45 And among His Signs is this, that He sends the winds as glad tidings, giving you a taste of His Mercy (i.e. rain), and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, in order that you may be thankful. 46 And indeed We sent several Noble Messengers before you, to their nations – so they came to them with clear signs – We therefore took revenge from the guilty; and it is incumbent upon Our mercy, to help the Muslims. 47 It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice 48 though before that, before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair. 49 Look, therefore, at the signs of God's mercy; how He resurrects the earth after its death. Truly, the same God will resurrect the dead; for He has power over all things. 50 And if We send a wind [which would spoil the green growth (tilth) brought up by the previous rain], and they see (their tilth) turn yellow, behold, they then after their being glad, would become unthankful (to their Lord Allah as) disbelievers. 51 (O Prophet), you cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear your call when they turn back in retreat, 52 Nor canst thou be a guide to the blind out of their error; thou canst make none to hear save those who believe in Our signs, and who have surrendered themselves. 53
