The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
