The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
