Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 we are the rangers, 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 They used to say before: 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
