The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
