The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
