Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 The Pharaoh replied, "In addition to your rewards, you will become my close friends thereafter." 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us?
