He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And hath fear, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
