The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
