Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
