Aaron had already, before this said to them: "O my people! ye are being tested in this: for verily your Lord is (Allah) Most Gracious; so follow me and obey my command." 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 Moses asked: "O Sameri, what was the matter?" 95 He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me. 96 (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!" 97 Your God is only One, Allah. There is no god, except He, alone. His knowledge encompasses all things. 98 (O Muhammad), thus do We recount to you the events of the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition. 99 Whoever turns aside from it, he shall surely bear a burden on the day of resurrection 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 On the day the Trumpet is blown; and We shall muster the sinners upon that day with eyes staring, 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 [But] We know best what they will be saying when the most perceptive of them shall say: "You have spent [there] but one day!" 104
