Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
