The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
