'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
