'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
