The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
