The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
