Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
