AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 He said to his father: 'O father, why worship that which can neither see nor hear, nor helps you in anything? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Father, do not serve Satan, for Satan has indeed been a persistent rebel against the Most Compassionate Lord. 44 O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companion. 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 Thus, when he left them and the (idols) they worshipped, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet, 49 And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor. 50
