The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
