The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony, 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they sat by it, 6 And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers. 7 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- 8 Whose kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth. God is witness over everything. 9 Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. 14 in sublime almightiness enthroned, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, 19 although Allah surrounds them. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
True are the words of God the Almighty.
