The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
