The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
