Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
