The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
